My name is Kim Bechstein, I study communication in Groningen, the Netherlands. I grew up in Wiesbaden, Germany, with a paintbrush in my hand. In my artistic family I had the early opportunity to work with different media, attend courses, and test my skills. I encountered the medium of collage several times in my youth, but my interest only peaked during my studies.
Collages fascinate me because I can create contrasts. Motifs that have no relation in real life come together organically and create new worlds.
Finding new motifs is an important part of my process. I combine modern and old materials. Fashion magazines from the 50s combine with animal and flower pictures, and acrylic paint.
